Unlike other managers and directors in profit making organizations, Mr. John doesn't face any competitions as there are non, but the difficult part is to keep the alumni members motivated and intact with out having them on pay role or any such thing and at the same time involving them in alumni programs. Eliade Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Eliade - Assignment Example This hierophany can be witnessed in the Jesus Christ himself who is a personification of God himself. According to him the sacred only reveals himself to the reality of holy and not that of natural reality. Eliade clearly distinguishes between an objects physical attributes and sacred attributes. He states that the sacred nature of objects is not to be counted as a physical attribute but rather a sacred attribute which he pronounces to be ganz andere. He tells about the sacred as something which is developing world order and is religious. He tells about nature as something which is conforming to the modes of sacredness. He differentiates between sacred and profane on the basis of the followers of both the existence. Individuals who believe in profane rely on natural realities rather than on sacredness and power is perceived by them as something which is eternal. In other words these followers are deviating from the role of existence in this world. Eliade describes the primitive race to be belonging to this world with natural realities and who deny their moral rights. These followers do not have a moral right to existence in this world as put by Eliade. He further concludes that profane and sacred are two different modes of existence in this world. 3. Mircea Eliade calls humankind ââ¬Å"homo religious.â⬠By homo religious Eliade is trying to tell that people in this world who follow this form believe in one religion and one god irrespective of their beliefs in profane or sacred. This is the very reason that Eliade distinguishes between the two forms of existence i.e. profane and sacred. 4. (a.) Desacralized cosmosâ⬠is used by the author to tell about the myth of the end of this world and existence. It is believed by him that this end would be marked by the hatred for profane and the eternal return of sacred to this world. (b.) ââ¬Å"homogeneity of spaceâ⬠the author uses this term to signify

William Carlos Williams Essay Example for Free
William Carlos Williams Essay The poem that I like the best was ââ¬Å"Catchâ⬠by Robert Francis. I thought this poem was the me of my childhood and it represents what poetry should be. The imagery in this poem was great; it took me back to when I was a youngster when I and my brother would play catch for hours. We would throw the ball every way possible to make it more challenging and fun to play just like the poem described. The third line in the poem says ââ¬Å"Teasing with attitudes, latitudes, interludes, altitudesâ⬠really grabbed me with the use of assonanceââ¬â¢s and the hard T and L sounds gave the poem intensity. I also like how the poem represents how poetry should be. For example, line 10 says ââ¬Å"Over his head, make him scramble to pick up the meaning.â⬠Poetry is supposed to be challenging, surprise the reader and makes them think what the deeper meaning is; which creates interest. If poetry was simple and easy to read it would be a short narrative story and be engaging or satisfying. The poem was a great representation of what poetry should be and brought me back to my childhood which is why I chose it to be the best. The poem I liked the least was ââ¬Å"The Red Wheelbarrowâ⬠by William Carlos Williams. I liked it the least because I couldnââ¬â¢t find a deeper meaning of the poem. All I got from it was an image of a red wheelbarrow with rain water glistening on it sitting beside white chickens. Iââ¬â¢m sure Williams wanted the reader to get deeper meaning out of the poem than just an image. I went through the five questions and tried to decipher the meaning of the poem and still came up with nothing. Why does so much depend on a red wheelbarrow? Does he have a bad back and depends on the wheelbarrow to haul stuff around to make a chicken coop for the chickens to survive? I have no idea. The poem has interesting diction but I thought it was vague which is why it is was my least favorite poem.

The Schoolmaster in Albert Camuss The Guest Essay example -- The Gues
In Albert Camus's "The Guest," an idealistic schoolmaster, Daru, is forced to make many unsettling decisions when ordered to deliver an Arab prisoner to higher authorities in Tinguit. From the beginning, after the prisoner is transferred into his custody, Daru chooses to treat him as a guest rather than a prisoner. Also, Daru decides not to cast judgment on the Arab for the crime of killing his cousin. Lastly, Daru chooses not to play God and assume the awesome responsibility of deciding another man's fate. Thus, when Daru is faced with a series of confusing and complicated situations he chooses to be himself and make his own decisions rather than be influenced by others. The mere thought of keeping a prisoner in one's home is quite troubling, but when Daru is forced to keep the Arab as his "guest," he is compelled to act as a good host. From the beginning, Daru demonstrates compassion, sensitivity, and humanely acts in many different ways. Daru insists that the prisoner should be untied. "Once his hands were free... he held out a glass of tea." Daru also feeds, cooks for, a...

Literary Analysis of the Great Gatsby Essay
F. Scott Fitzgerald demonstrates the thematic concern of carelessness in his fictional novel, The Great Gatsby, by using characters such as Jordan, Myrtle, and Daisy. Carelessness is exemplified many times throughout the book; such as on page 26. The narrator says, ââ¬Å"She nodded and moved away from him just as George returned.â⬠This statement describes Myrtle caressing her secret lover, Tom, just before her husband re-enters the room. She is careless as to hide her affection. Another example can be found on page 58, in a conversation between Nick and Jordan in the car. Nick: ââ¬Å"Suppose you met somebody just as careless as yourself.â⬠Jordan: ââ¬Å"I hope I never will.â⬠In this scene, Jordan is driving recklessly, as usual. Nick is confronting her about being careless for the first time. This is not the last time the author shows the thematic concern though: ââ¬Å"Daisy sat back upon the couch. The nurse took a step forward and held out her hand.â⬠During this part of the novel (page 23), Daisy pays no attention to her child. She leaves the nurse to take care of and raise her daughter; hence the term ââ¬Ëcarelessââ¬â¢. As proven by the excerpts above, Fitzgerald clearly is attempting to put a subtle emphasis on this trait of life. By creating a chaotic atmosphere in the book, carelessness is obvioiusly going to play a big part in the plot to reach the climax. With quotes like the examples given, Fitzergerald accomplishes his goal of displaying carelessness throughout The Great Gatsby.

The Scheme of Arrangement Under Section 176 of the Companies in Malaysia - Free Essay Example
Sample details Pages: 5 Words: 1364 Downloads: 7 Date added: 2017/06/26 Category Law Essay Did you like this example? Scheme of arrangement under S 176 of Companies Act had been a formal corporate rescue process in Malaysia before the outbreak of financial crisis of South East Asia in 1997.[1] Although the purpose of the provision had never be a corporate rescue mechanism,[2] Scheme of arrangement not only can be applied by the insolvent company as a last straw to clutch at in saving the company, but also by ordinary company for adjustment of members or creditors rights, reorganisation of the companyà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s share capital, and reconstruction or merger of a group of companies.[3] Many companies had sought Scheme of arrangement in saving the company from going into liquidation. Before the amendment in 1998, Some of the companies had just applied the restraining order under s176 merely to delay the repayment of the debt. This had constituted abuses of s176 and thus some amendments had been made. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "The Scheme of Arrangement Under Section 176 of the Companies in Malaysia" essay for you Create order The amendment of section 176 was incorporated in the Companies (Amendment) Act (No.2) Act (A1043) 1998 with effect from 1 November 1998. The amendments retain all the existing provisions of section 176 but have added new provisions in the form of sections 176(10A) to 176(10E). S 176 had been constantly been criticised as having several deficiencies. Firstly, a company can applied for the restraining order in pursuant to s176(10) even without a proposed scheme of arrangement and meetings of creditors can be applied at a later stage. Time limit had not been provided in the provision when a proposed scheme has to be presented. Hence, debtor companies may misapplied the section solely to delay repayment period of the debt so that the company not be declared as insolvent. Secondly, the company existing management is allowed to be in-charged of companyà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s affairs and actively involve in structuring remedy to save the company from going into liquidation. This had being criticised as no equity because the existing management is the one who makes the companyà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s financial state become dire. The failure to maintain the company by the existing management cause them loss of confidence from shareholders and the interests of creditors may not be adequately protected.. Thirdly, period of protection is not specified under S176. Court generally grants a six-month period for the scheme and may grants further period to extend the protection for three or six months. Such inconsistent period affects the creditorà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s interest as they hardly to recover the debts against the company. In practice, the courts appear to be reluctant in granting a moratorium if the proposed scheme is loosely constructed and if the company who applied for such order is à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã
âhopelessly insolventà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã .[4] It is illustrated in Sri Hartamas Develepment Sdn. Bhd v MBF Finance,[5] where the court had refuse to grant the orders made by the applicant under Sections 176(1) and 176(10) due to that proposed scheme lacks provisions for enforcement and the company is hopelessly insolvent. The decision has been agreed by several Australian authorities like Re Buildmat (Australia) Ltd.[6] There is another important decision which has also denotes the defects of the pre-amendment of Section 176. In the case of Re Kuala Lumpur Industries Bhd and Others,[7] the applicant filed to set aside the restraining order of debtor company under section 176(10). Depart from two cases mentioned above, the Court granted the restraining order. Thus, much criticisms has been put forward regarding the decision of this case because based on the facts, the applicant debtor did not make an application under s176(10) and only made an application under s176(1). To give remedy in response to the criticisms made by public, the subsections (10A), (10B), (10C), (10D), and (10E) under the S 176(10) had been inserted. Such amendment sought to h ave a more transparent in application of restraining order and to overcome the defects had been mentioned before. After Re Kuala Lumpur Industries Bhd,[8] an amendment has been made to restrain the period of restraining order for not more than ninety days or such longer period as the Court any for good reason allow if and only if it is satisfied that there is a proposal for a scheme of compromise or arrangement between the company and its creditors or any class of creditors representing at least one-half in value of all the creditors.[9] Besides, debtor company must proved to the court that the applied restraining order is necessary for a scheme of arrangement be prepared. Moreover, the debtor company seeking a restraining order is required to lodge a statement of affairs made up to a date not more than three days before, together with section 176 application. Another amendment is that the debtor company must fully disclose to the creditors the proposed scheme of arrangement. Sec tion 176(10C) provides that upon obtaining the restraining order, a debtor company is not longer be allowed to dispose its properties or to acquire any property other than in the ordinary course of business. Although the provision is amended for betterment as the probabilities of misusing the power granted under section 176 is reduced and an ailing company to ward off claims by obtaining a moratorium is also avoided, the amendment is not comprehensive to address some other defects in the provision. After the provision was being amended, but there is still an absence of an independent third party professional that would be able to determine whether creditors interest has been considered in the scheme .Although an independent director is required but his roles are not clearly stated and in fact he is not a qualified professional who entitled to form a convincing opinion.[10] The Corporate Law Reform Committee (CLRC) had made review and gives recommendation that certain modifi cations must be made to S 176, it can reverts to its pre-amendment form, where finality on the moratorium period had been emphasized, where any extension of moratorium period shall not allowed , and the moratorium period should only be applicable to creditors and not as against regulators.[11] Bibliography Textbook: 1. Dystopia Is A Society Of A Perfect Utopian World - 889 Words
Dystopia is a society that is being controlled in every way. The society is controlled by a mindless bureaucracy through a tangle of red tape, relentless regulations, and incompetent government officials. The key characteristic of a dystopian society is that citizens go through torture because theyââ¬â¢re living in a dehumanized state. Essentially the society is an illusion apparition of a perfect utopian world. All of the societyââ¬â¢s freedom is cramped. There is complete fearfulness in all of all the locals in each society which make the societies have something in common. Beginning with 1984, Winston was afraid of torture because of what he had written in his notes. ââ¬Å"Notes he made he dropped them into the memory hole.â⬠p.(109) He did this so the notes could be died down by flames. He was afraid of the authorities to see what he had written down. Nevertheless in Harrison Bergeron George has to wear a ear piece to stop him from thinking hard. ââ¬Å"The transmitter would send out sharp noise.â⬠p.(1) The transmitter only sent out sharp noise to stop George from thinking hard. This is frightening because the government is not letting him think like he would in todayââ¬â¢s world. Although that was a tough time for George. Planet of the apes relates to these two because the locals are afraid to disobey the government as well. The human civilization is completely destroy ed. ââ¬Å"Over 90% of the human population has died. ââ¬Å" The humans have demise in the pandemic, while the apes gained brainpower.
