William Carlos Williams Essay The poem that I like the best was â€Å"Catch† by Robert Francis. I thought this poem was the me of my childhood and it represents what poetry should be. The imagery in this poem was great; it took me back to when I was a youngster when I and my brother would play catch for hours. We would throw the ball every way possible to make it more challenging and fun to play just like the poem described. The third line in the poem says â€Å"Teasing with attitudes, latitudes, interludes, altitudes† really grabbed me with the use of assonance’s and the hard T and L sounds gave the poem intensity. I also like how the poem represents how poetry should be. For example, line 10 says â€Å"Over his head, make him scramble to pick up the meaning.† Poetry is supposed to be challenging, surprise the reader and makes them think what the deeper meaning is; which creates interest. If poetry was simple and easy to read it would be a short narrative story and be engaging or satisfying. The poem was a great representation of what poetry should be and brought me back to my childhood which is why I chose it to be the best. The poem I liked the least was â€Å"The Red Wheelbarrow† by William Carlos Williams. I liked it the least because I couldn’t find a deeper meaning of the poem. All I got from it was an image of a red wheelbarrow with rain water glistening on it sitting beside white chickens. I’m sure Williams wanted the reader to get deeper meaning out of the poem than just an image. I went through the five questions and tried to decipher the meaning of the poem and still came up with nothing. Why does so much depend on a red wheelbarrow? Does he have a bad back and depends on the wheelbarrow to haul stuff around to make a chicken coop for the chickens to survive? I have no idea. F. Scott Fitzgerald demonstrates the thematic concern of carelessness in his fictional novel, The Great Gatsby, by using characters such as Jordan, Myrtle, and Daisy. The narrator says, â€Å"She nodded and moved away from him just as George returned.† This statement describes Myrtle caressing her secret lover, Tom, just before her husband re-enters the room. She is careless as to hide her affection. Another example can be found on page 58, in a conversation between Nick and Jordan in the car. Nick: â€Å"Suppose you met somebody just as careless as yourself.† Jordan: â€Å"I hope I never will.† In this scene, Jordan is driving recklessly, as usual. Nick is confronting her about being careless for the first time. This is not the last time the author shows the thematic concern though: â€Å"Daisy sat back upon the couch. The nurse took a step forward and held out her hand.† During this part of the novel (page 23), Daisy pays no attention to her child. She leaves the nurse to take care of and raise her daughter; hence the term ‘careless’. After Re Kuala Lumpur Industries Bhd,[8] an amendment has been made to restrain the period of restraining order for not more than ninety days or such longer period as the Court any for good reason allow if and only if it is satisfied that there is a proposal for a scheme of compromise or arrangement between the company and its creditors or any class of creditors representing at least one-half in value of all the creditors.[9] Besides, debtor company must proved to the court that the applied restraining order is necessary for a scheme of arrangement be prepared. Moreover, the debtor company seeking a restraining order is required to lodge a statement of affairs made up to a date not more than three days before, together with section 176 application. Another amendment is that the debtor company must fully disclose to the creditors the proposed scheme of arrangement. Sec tion 176(10C) provides that upon obtaining the restraining order, a debtor company is not longer be allowed to dispose its properties or to acquire any property other than in the ordinary course of business. Although the provision is amended for betterment as the probabilities of misusing the power granted under section 176 is reduced and an ailing company to ward off claims by obtaining a moratorium is also avoided, the amendment is not comprehensive to address some other defects in the provision. After the provision was being amended, but there is still an absence of an independent third party professional that would be able to determine whether creditors interest has been considered in the scheme .Although an independent director is required but his roles are not clearly stated and in fact he is not a qualified professional who entitled to form a convincing opinion.[10] The Corporate Law Reform Committee (CLRC) had made review and gives recommendation that certain modifi cations must be made to S 176, it can reverts to its pre-amendment form, where finality on the moratorium period had been emphasized, where any extension of moratorium period shall not allowed , and the moratorium period should only be applicable to creditors and not as against regulators.[11] Bibliography Textbook: 1.
